i celebrated with a new place on my list, HOME PLACE PLANTATION.
though it's boarded up i hear the owners live nearby and are real
friendly. at least that's what the cop said who interrupted my shoot.
i'll have to charm the keys out of these people.

the city of abita springs is a typical example of small town louisiana. blend backwoods with weirdos and you get this quaint place, fit with microbrewery and freak-show museum.
thank you, abita, for becoming my favorite deposit in the state.

a very old school in my neighborhood, over one hundred years old; completely neglected. its a beautiful space about ten years empty and could be useful if the city would only take a look at it.

whoa! been a while! lost internet, went to lots of coffee shops.
i hate coffee, so i ask for juice. they have no juice.
i had to pay for water to use the internet.
just awful.

but september was eventful!

so it was totally a katrina casualty, i had no idea. i try not to go to those places as much as ones that are just plain old and decrepit, but i will make this exception. because the place is fucking rad.

crikey! what a busy weekend. glad i can now relax on my bum instead of my on my feet. lets celebrate!

but i'd love to start collecting driftwood, make a table or bench or something... maybe a tree house! this was one of those sunny, rainy days next to the river.

on a different note.

i came back to THIS place, my favorite place, one free afternoon last week expecting to have to hop the fence and low and behold, 'twas open again! looks like some construction is happening inside, there were work tables and a few holes dug in the ground. left me uneasy. i'll die if they tear this place down. i've already nearly had a heart attack when the school was razed.

before i went in i stopped two guys in hopes of them knowing what this place was used for. instead i just learned that the area is called 'the kill zone' and that they hear gunshots every night from their house down the block. i knew i was in a bad neighborhood but it looks like this one's a winner! lets look at the pictures.

since my last visit the place has been closed off completely. they even put up no tresspassing signs! silly people, with their barb-free fences. what were they thinking?
